Dr. Martí Nadal was recently invited to attend the II International Workshop on Toxicology, which was held at the Ribeirão Preto campus of University of São Paulo, Brazil. The event was organized by Prof. Fernando Barbosa Jr., researcher of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto at University of São Paulo. Dr. Nadal took advantage of the workshop to present some advances of TecnATox on one of the most recent research areas of the group, focused on climate change, giving a plenary lecture entitled “Influence of the climate change on the environmental levels of POPs: An additional risk?”.
Dr. Nadal’s visit was aimed at boosting the collaboration of TecnATox with Prof. Barbosa’s group, one of the most prestigious worldwide in the area of food toxicology. In addition, Dr. Nadal visited the facilities of the School of Nursery of Ribeirão Preto, where he met with Prof. Susana Segura-Muñoz and several members of her research group. TecnATox and Dr. Segura-Muñoz’s group has carried out an intense collaboration for more than 10 years, performing a number of joint projects in the areas of environmental toxicology and health risk assessment.
A delegation of TecnATox attended the International Symposium CLIMATE-ES 2015, which was held in Tortosa (Catalonia, Spain) in March 11-13, 2015. This conference brought together scientists from a number of research areas to discuss the progress on climate change detection and projections over Spain since the findings of the IPCC AR5 Report.
